The use of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) has become a very common practice in the manufacturing industry. With Aberdeen Group’s “2014 Business Management and ERP Benchmark Survey” reporting that 97% of industry leaders are using ERP and 88% of followers, it’s undeniable that the industry recognizes the value of ERP software and what it can do for their companies. But there are still some that may not know how much more valuable ERP is when used to its full potential. Read more
Increasing demand for end-to-end supply chain visibility is perhaps one of the most discussed issues when it comes to enterprise resource planning (ERP). One reason for this is that many organizations with multinational presence are still struggling to achieve full insight into their complex operations.
Though modern ERP solutions provide superior visibility compared to obsolete business management systems, honest replies to questions about the degree of visibility across all the tiers in the supply chain have revealed a series of limitations because of the dependence on Excel or a Legacy Accounting System. The impossibility of tracking merchandise under shipment along with the necessity to switch between multiple systems and/or portals to get up-to-date information about products from different manufacturers, retailers and logistics service providers are just two of the factors that hamper a company’s ability to effectively control the goods it produces overseas and imports into the US. Microsoft’s Project GigJam allows operating systems to work together to accomplish great things. It’s exciting that Satya Nadella has swayed Microsoft’s business focus from operating system wars to focusing on us, the customers. GigJam developed in part by Vijay Mital, General Manager of Ambient Computing & Robotics at Microsoft, does just that with this new app of apps by letting us work together EASILY regardless of the operating system.
Most of the source content of this blog comes from ZD NET’s Alan Lepofsky for Constellation Research since Satya Nadella introduced GigJam at the World Partner Conference in VERY high-level terms saying:
“Gigjam’s technology empowers business workers to summon information from their line of business and SaaS apps, spontaneously divvy up the specific information and actions needed to get work done, keep track of each part, and bring it all to closure immediately.”
While that description is accurate, I wanted to give you more insight. One that shows a glimpse of how Microsoft is continuously working to help you and your company accomplish more through products like Dynamics AX , Dynamics NAV or their newest product, Project GigJam.
Project GigJam’s name comes from the “gig-economy” trend, where people perform small jobs for different clients. Read more

What adds success to an organization? More than anything visible, tangible passion: that sparkle in someone’s eyes when they speak about what they do, the excited lilt in someone’s speech when they explain a project.
This is the type of response I get when I speak to our managing director, Michael Conti, about Microsoft Dynamics ERP solutions. When I asked him last week, “What’s your favorite part of Microsoft Dynamics NAV?” A big grin grew on his face saying, “I’ve never seen a software with stronger financial details. Not only that but it allows for different views of the company: home office versus satellite companies, and specific user views even in dealing with multi-country, multi-company implementations. The business accounting solution consolidates big data into very readable reports.” (By the way, come back in a few weeks for the case study). Read more
